How Many Moments is God In?

I heard Michael Thompson ask the men at the HEART OF A WARRIOR conference "How many moments in a day do you think God is in?" There is a silence, but shortly a man blurts out "all of them." The rest of the men nod, but say in their mind "that's what we are supposed to say, but it doesn’t feel like that."

I wonder, if God is in every moment, then where am I, if not aware of Him?

I answer myself, I am in LIFE and STUFF.

But what if I take time out of life and stuff and put myself in His word, in the stories about Him and His son, put myself in dialogue and in quiet solitude listening for him, what would happen.

Rumi said "there is a voice that does not use words." What if I listen for that more often?

So I have tried that, and low and behold the most counterintuitive thing has happened. I actually get more life, and more stuff than I had before. I have more love and joy with my wife, and my three toddler children and dialogue with my three older children. I have deeper fellowship with my friends, and my sleep is more sound and my day is filled with more joy.

But I thought I was taking away time from my life and from my stuff, how could that give me more.? Guess it’s like a hole, the more you take away, the bigger it gets. Well, if that is the case, then I want to make a bigger and deeper hole with the Lord and let him take stuff away and replace it with life, ZOWEH life, in Him with my family.

Amen and amen.
